Modi and Zelensky Meet in Evian, India Urges Peace in Ukraine

On the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss bilateral cooperation and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi underscored India’s unwavering commitment to peace and diplomacy, stressing that New Delhi prioritizes “the values of humanity over everything else.” The discussions aimed at reviewing and enhancing cooperation between India and Ukraine, particularly in trade and reconstruction efforts.

President Zelensky highlighted India’s significant potential for collaboration, expressing a keen interest in expanding joint ventures with New Delhi. Both leaders agreed to strengthen economic and industrial ties, tasking their respective teams with developing detailed proposals for future partnerships. This meeting occurs amid continued global efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict, with India maintaining a balanced approach by engaging with both Kyiv and Moscow and advocating for dialogue to end hostilities.

Prime Minister Modi has consistently called for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis, emphasizing that battles cannot be conclusively settled on the battlefield but rather through negotiations.
