Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has resulted in flood-like conditions across several parts of Chhattisgarh, significantly affecting the districts of Raipur and Durg. The rising water levels of the Kharun River have led to widespread waterlogging, severely disrupting daily life in the region.
In Raipur and Durg, numerous roads and riverside villages have been submerged, with water entering homes in low-lying areas. The road connecting Raipur, Patan, and Durg through Mahadev Ghat is among the worst affected, causing major traffic disruptions. Similarly, the Raipur-Bhilai route via Mahadev Ghat has experienced severe waterlogging, further complicating transportation.
The villages of Amleshwar and Khudmuda in Durg district are particularly impacted, with strong water currents and submerged roads making movement challenging for residents. The situation has raised concerns among local communities as the strong water flow continues unabated.
Forecasts indicate that further rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in the region, raising the possibility of continued water accumulation in already affected low-lying and riverside areas.
