In explaining his decision, Waqar criticized his former party for allegedly targeting Congress and other opposition groups like the Samajwadi Party, rather than focusing on defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Once a key figure for AIMIM in Uttar Pradesh, Waqar was known for his close relationship with party leader Owaisi.
