Alcaraz had faced a complicated path to the quarter-finals, dropping sets and occasionally showing frustration. However, against Paul, he demonstrated exceptional control and varied shotmaking, stating he was “starting to give every shot at my 100%.”
Paul, despite his athleticism and ability to challenge top players, was visibly weary from previous taxing matches and an abdominal issue.
