Trump’s “Personal Chemistry” Summit Postponed Indefinitely

-

The summit where President Trump hoped to leverage his “personal chemistry” with Vladimir Putin has been postponed indefinitely. A US official said Tuesday there are “no plans” for a meeting in the “immediate future.”
This comes despite Trump’s boast that he could end the Ukraine war in a day, and his announcement last week of a Budapest summit “within two weeks.”
The Kremlin’s spokesperson confirmed the delay, stating there is “no precise timeframe” for a meeting.
Trump’s announcement had spurred a “productive” call on Monday between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
However, the US official, speaking anonymously, said a follow-up meeting between the diplomats was “not necessary,” halting the preparations. This is the latest “abrupt shift” in Trump’s Russia policy.
