The American Century may be drawing to a close, and a new era is being signaled by a powerful alliance in the East. The unity displayed by the leaders of India, China, and Russia at the SCO summit has been interpreted in the US as a “historically big deal” that marks the dawn of a multipolar age.
Political analyst Van Jones articulated this historic shift, warning that the image of Narendra Modi, Xi Jinping, and Vladimir Putin together represents a “new world order.” He argued that this new order is not just a theoretical concept but a tangible reality that should “send a chill down the spine of every American.”
This new era is being shaped by the global reaction to US policies, particularly the trade war. As the US has become a more disruptive and unpredictable actor, other nations have sought stability and strength in new partnerships, leading to the consolidation of this Eurasian bloc.
Jones lamented that the US has been left “in a box” and on the “bad side of the triangle.” He warned that the nation now faces a world where “it’s everybody against us,” a dramatic reversal of its post-Cold War dominance and a situation that is “not good for America.”
