IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Pune, Mumbai and Nearby Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain and thunderstorm alerts for several parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Satara and Aurangabad. An orange alert is in place for Pune, Raigad, Satara and nearby districts, while Mumbai, Thane and Palghar remain under a yellow alert.
According to the IMD, moderate to intense rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ahmednagar, Beed and Latur. Light rainfall is also forecast for Nashik, Palghar, Jalna and Nagpur.
The department has warned of possible waterlogging and disruptions, as heavy showers were recorded overnight in several areas of Pune. Rainfall data from IMD observatories indicated between 10mm to 15mm in Shivajinagar, Talegaon, Hadapsar and Magarpatta.
