Guns Fall Silent as Thailand and Cambodia Restore Border Stability

-

A wave of relief has swept the Thai-Cambodian border after authorities declared a ceasefire, ending days of violence and chaos. The recent fighting, rooted in historical grievances and unmarked borders, brought death and destruction to farming communities.
Malaysian mediation secured the peace deal, with military and cross-border officials scheduled to prevent future flare-ups. National leaders are appealing to the public’s sense of calm and unity as battered communities rebuild.
Emergency relief operations continue for the thousands still displaced, and both sides are taking steps to ensure no further reprisals or inflamed nationalist rhetoric.
With the shooting stopped and dialogue begun, the focus now is on turning this truce into a foundation for regional stability.
