China and India Pledge to Strengthen Ties, Address Boundary Question

-

China and India have taken steps to stabilize their relationship, with senior officials from both sides pledging to enhance trust, expand cooperation, and advance dialogue on the long-standing boundary issue.
In New Delhi, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval co-chaired the 24th round of talks on the boundary question. Both sides agreed to deepen strategic communication, maintain peace along the border, and work toward a fair and mutually acceptable resolution. They also committed to holding the next round of talks in China next year.
Wang emphasized that stable ties between the two major neighbors serve the interests of their peoples and contribute to regional and global stability. He called for building consensus, resolving specific issues, and creating conditions for stronger cooperation. Doval echoed these views, stressing the importance of trust and dialogue amid global challenges.
As the two countries mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, discussions also touched on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. Both sides expressed optimism that the meeting will provide fresh momentum to bilateral ties.
In addition to boundary talks, Wang met Indian leaders to discuss broader cooperation in trade, investment, and multilateral forums such as BRICS. Both countries highlighted the need to view each other as partners rather than rivals, underscoring the role of their cooperation in promoting a more balanced international order.
